The International Development Course 2008 is coming to

About the IDC
Organised by
Supported through the Welsh Assembly Government's Wales
for Africa Scheme.
This event is open to all students and professionals who have an
interest in getting into the nitty gritty of
International Development. The rising trends in global trade and
migration have created a planet in which countries that differ
wildly in social and economic climates are becoming increasingly
interdependent, yet the poverty gap increases. The reasons that keep
communities below the poverty line are complex and cover a multitude of
disciplines: social, health, economic, technical, environmental and political.
International Development is not just about Aid Relief, it is also about
addressing the underlying problems and implementing methods to
equip disenfranchised groups with the tools required to bring about
lasting improvements to their lives. These tools could be a new education
policy at government level, a series of local health awareness programs, or
even a simple water pump supplying safe drinking water.
The IDC will be exploring key issues in International Development and
looking at the efforts and initiatives from individuals and organisations
in
